The public is welcome & RSVPs are required: On Oct. 29 at 6:30 pm, the Gowanus Canal CAG will hold a special meeting with NYS DEC Officials: James Tierney, Asst. Commissioner for Water; Robert Schick, Division Director for Environmental Remediation; Venetia Lannon, Director, DEC Region 2; and Gary Kline, Chief, New York City Municipal Compliance Section, Bureau of Water Compliance.
Topics of discussion include: 1) Coordination between DEC and other agencies regarding the canal clean-up, such as EPA, NYC DEP, and others; 2) Combined Sewer Overflows; 3) Water Quality Reclassification; 4) Prioritization of water pollution control projects in NYC; 5) Modeling and other technical issues.
Members of the public must RSVP by Wednesday 10/24 at noon so that we can be sure to have sufficient space. The location will be announced later this week.
