Gowanus CAG – Oct. 2 Meeting & Updates

Reminder that the Gowanus Canal Community Advisory Group (CAG) is meeting today (Tuesday, Oct. 2) at 6:30 pm at Mary Star of the Sea Senior Housing at 41 1st Street, Brooklyn.  The public is welcome.  Space is limited, so RSVPs are appreciated.

 

Agenda:

1) Christos Tsiamis and Brian Carr of EPA will give a brief update on Superfund progress and introduce Dr. Maurizio Porfiri of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University who will make a short presentation about his National Science Foundation funded project “Brooklyn Atlantis.”  The project, which will be launched in the coming weeks, involves the collection of data and environmental monitoring at the Gowanus Canal with citizen participation.

2) Other agency updates: NYS DEC about MGP sites, NYCDEP about responses to CAG WQ/Technical committee

3) NYS Dept. of Health will be giving an update and taking questions about their Public Health Assessment, which has not yet been completed for the Gowanus Superfund site.

4) CAG committee updates: Administrative, Water Quality/Technical, Real Estate, Archaeology
