June 12th Stewardship on 10th Street and Ennis Playground

Dear Friends of Fran Brady/Under-the-Tracks,

Since we last reached out, a group of local non-profit organizations, architects, and planners—including the Gowanus Alliance, the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, Gowanus by Design, dlandstudios, and the Office of Council Member Brad Lander—have together strategized about re-gaining community access to Fran Brady/Under-the-Tracks Playground. We are pushing the MTA to support community access, and make use of this publicly-owned open space to achieve the shared goals the community articulated in the fall.

Let’s keep the momentum for better public space going! Please join GCC and Gowanus Alliance on Sunday, June 12th for a day of tree stewardship and perennial plantings on 10th St and at Ennis Park.

Time: Sunday, June 12, 2016, 11:00am-2:00pm
Meeting Location: 10th St and 3rd Avenue
Description: Volunteers will be stewarding trees along 10th St between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. Participants will be using small hand tools to aerate tree beds, remove debris, and mulch.

We will provide all gloves, tools, and materials. Volunteers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, closed-toed shoes, and hat/sunscreen as needed. Please bring a water bottle.

Please RSVP to volunteer@gowanuscanalconservancy.org, or just come out and join!  Also, let us know if you’re interested in helping water or care for new plantings over the summer.
